There’s a category of cases that stops most workshops in their tracks: the glass has broken, but the model is old, the manufacturer no longer supports it, or the vehicle has been converted and there’s no standard part that fits.
In these cases, “not available” effectively means a vehicle sitting idle indefinitely.
The solution: custom fabrication to order
We undertake the fabrication of side and rear glass based on the exact dimensions and shape of the specific vehicle. The process includes:
- Precise measurement of dimensions, curvature and mounting points — taken from the vehicle itself or from the broken glass, when that’s possible.
- Defining specifications: thickness, glass type (tempered / laminated), single or double glazing, tint, and the position and dimensions of any opening section or holes.
- Fabrication to those specifications.
- Fitting and fit-check at our workshop.
Where this is typically used
- Older bus and coach models that are no longer supported.
- Converted vehicles — buses turned into mobile units, shops, offices or motorhomes.
- Unusual configurations: relocated window positions, blanked-off sections, added opening windows.
- School and special-purpose vehicles with specific requirements.
What to keep in mind
Custom fabrication has a lead time that depends on the specifications — it’s not a same-day solution. That’s why, if you manage a fleet with older-technology vehicles, it’s worth discussing this before you actually need it: knowing in advance which glass is no longer readily available lets you plan ahead, instead of finding a vehicle out of service in the middle of the season.
We’ll give you a realistic lead time and cost before anything starts.
