Every professional coach driver knows this problem: the side windows start to fog up. First in one corner, then across the whole surface. The interior looks dirty even though it’s clean, passengers see blurry, and the vehicle looks old — even when it isn’t.
What’s actually happening
Bus side windows are double-glazed, with a gap between the two panes. Over time, the seal around the edge wears out and lets moisture into that gap. Once inside, the moisture has nowhere to go: it condenses, leaves mineral deposits on the inner glass surface, and creates that characteristic permanent fog.
No amount of cleaning, inside or outside, fixes it — because the problem sits between the two panes.
Why you shouldn’t leave it
If mineral deposits stay on the glass long enough, they etch into the surface. Past a certain point, the fog no longer comes off even with cleaning — the glass is ruined and the only option left is full replacement, which costs many times more.
Here, time really is money.
Our solution
Instead of replacement, we apply a process that costs significantly less:
- Extraction of the window from the vehicle.
- Disassembly of the two panes.
- Cleaning and descaling the inner surfaces, using materials that won’t scratch the glass.
- Resealing with higher-quality materials, restoring the seal so moisture can’t get back in.
- Refitting into the vehicle.

When replacement is needed
If the glass has already suffered permanent damage from mineral deposits, or if it’s cracked, we move on to replacing the side glass. We stock glass for common models and handle ordering or custom fabrication for the rest.
Practical tip
Check your fleet’s side windows regularly, especially before the tourist season. A fogged window is the first thing a passenger notices when they sit down — and the last thing you want coming up in a review.
