Roof & Window Waterproofing for Buses

Water dripping inside the cabin rarely comes in where it appears to. It follows the path of the frame, travels horizontally for metres, and comes out at a point that can be far from the actual entry point. That’s why quick fixes applied “where it’s dripping” usually solve nothing — they just move the problem.

Where the problem is usually found

  • Around window frames, where the original seal has hardened and cracked over time, sun exposure and vibration.
  • At roof hatches / skylights and their frames.
  • At roof panel joints, especially on older vehicles or after bodywork repairs.
  • Around the windscreen, when a previous installation wasn’t done under proper conditions.

What we do

  1. Locating the real point of water entry — through a controlled test, not guesswork. This is the most critical step, and the one that makes the difference between a real fix and a repeat of the problem next winter.
  2. Removing old, worn sealing materials. New adhesive over old, dried-out adhesive doesn’t bond — it just buys a few months.
  3. Cleaning and preparing the surface with the appropriate primers.
  4. Applying professional adhesives/sealants designed for heavy vehicles: materials with the flexibility to withstand vibration and body expansion/contraction, UV resistance, and resistance to temperatures ranging from the Greek August to winter in the mountains.
  5. Testing with a water test before the vehicle is handed back.

Why this isn’t the place to cut corners

Moisture getting into the bodywork doesn’t stop at the ceiling. It reaches the insulation, the wiring, the frame. A vehicle that leaks for two winters develops corrosion problems and electrical faults that cost many times more than waterproofing would have.

On top of that, for a tourist coach, a single drop landing on a passenger is exactly the kind of detail that turns into a complaint to the tour operator.

When to have it checked

Ideally before winter, and always after any bodywork repair or windscreen replacement not carried out by us. If you’ve already noticed a damp smell or stains on the ceiling, water is already getting in — even if you haven’t seen it drip yet.
